3/1/2015 0 Comments Step 2: Waking Up Your BodyThe alarm has sounded, you paused and gave gratitude, and now we start to move the energy that has stagnated in the body over night. It's time to consciously breathe & consciously wake up the body. Begin to take a few deep breaths. If you need some kick to get you out of bed you can pause after the inhale for a few seconds. Roll your feet around your ankles and hands around your wrists. If they feel extra stiff or congested you can also point and flex the feet and squeeze the toes while opening and closing your hands. ***If you are on your feet for the majority of the day or your feet feel particularly tight, before you put weight on your feet - roll the soles of the feet on a ball or foot massager. I currently use an acuball. The simple act of being kind to your feet can change how you show up your day and in your life in a major way. Before you drink any liquids, scrape your tongue. Tongue scraping is important. While you are sleeping, your digestive system is removing toxins from our body by depositing them onto the surface of our tongue. That taste in the morning is bacteria, food debris, & other toxins. If you don’t scrape this off the surface of our tongue you reabsorbed them with that first glass of water. You can purchase a tongue scraper or use can make do with a spoon. Warm some water so you can drink some lemon water as you continue to move through your morning ritual. Check out this Huffington Post article on the benefits of lemon water. They are all great benefits, but I'm learning more and more on the importance & effects of supporting your liver. More on that later. Your morning is on a roll now. Step One: Gratitude and Step Two: Waking up your Body have created a perfect foundation for us to move on to Phase 3: Charging Up.
